Life Design and Strategy - Introduction
If you like what you read or have any feedback, please let me know. This will help shape whether this becomes a book or not.
The approach I'm about to share, has given me the following, if you're looking for the same keep reading.
Clarity and alignment with who I am, what I want and how to get it.
To live a life doing what I love with people I love.
Has helped me identify my values, what’s important and given more meaning to my actions.
Has unlocked and inspired me to pursue my passions
Change bad habits
Take imperfect action and achieve outcomes I never would’ve imagined.
Reduced feelings and stages of demotivation, overwhelm, depression, anxiety and negative thoughts.
Increased my connection and the love I have for others - allowed me to perform my roles - become a better father, leader, friend, leader. to become more generous
Learning and growing in the areas that matter
Take stock of what’s great in my life, what I need to amplify and the actions that I needed to take.
And at the end of this you will:
Have a better understanding of who you are - clarity.
Full review of where you’re at - your key metrics to measure progress.
Know what’s truly important to you and what you care about - what’s BS vs finding your truth.
Key issues - figure out what’s holding you back or keeping you up at night.
Your core values - the real source of your happiness and problems.
Your north star - the GPS system that will guide you.
Identifying what you want and need - your personal KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators)
Clarity on the most impactful actions you need to take moving forward.
How to live your most aligned and happy life.
how to best use resources.- time, energy, money and focus.
What your ideal month looks like from a work and life perspective.
How to track your days to ensure you are living in alignment.
The end result is a customised life strategy and action plan that is fully aligned with you.
You will learn the OAK method - this is how we will turn your ideas, values and dreams into reality.
OAK stands for Outcomes, Actions and Knowledge. Once we are clear on who we are and what we want. We will use the OAK method to make it all happen. If you take one thing away from this, I hope it’s the OAK method. This is the ticket to achieve the outcomes you want.
You will also get a practical approach of how to make the most of your time and energy (in my opinion time and energy are our most valuable resources). An approach to optimise your days, weeks, months. This is ideal if you want to live a fuller life.
The goal here isn’t perfection, it’s to transform who you are, by optimising the best parts of your life so you can enjoy them more and to make a few key changes and to unearth a few impactful actions to take your happiness to the next level.
Again, this isn’t about achieving perfection, it’s about becoming better.
Think of this as an opportunity to upgrade your operating system. It's easy for us to comfortable using Window 95. As we evolve we need to update our operating system to the latest version.
Anxiety is a big part of life in modern society, I believe a big driver of anxiety is based on the gap between the actions we take vs where we feel we want to be. As that gap increases, so does fear and uncertainty which leads to greater anxiety. It becomes a slippery slide that’s hard to jump off from. If you are living in alignment with who you are and your actions are well defined and you’re able to consistently evaluate where you’re at. There’s a good chance feelings of anxiety and the gap of where you are and where you want to be, will reduce.
The first step is approaching this with an open mind and heart. The more truthful you are with yourself the more you will get out of this process
The question I will ask you first.
How much time do you spend strategising, planning and reviewing your life and how you’re living it?
For most people it's very little. The reason CEO's are the highest paid person in an organisation is because they spend most of their time strategising, planning and reviewing. The better they are this the better they are at making decisions and allocating resources. Why don't you become the CEO of your life?
For too long we’ve had it wrong, work and life don’t require balance. The secret to life isn’t balance. The secret to life is awareness (knowing who you are), clarity and alignment (knowing what you want and why) and actions (how you will get it). If you are well aligned you don’t need balance. Everything is one and the same… it’s all just life.
You might be successful in many ways, but it might not feel like it right now. Let's first acknowledge that even getting to the point of reading this until this point, is a proactive action towards growth.
Before we start, I want you to get into the right mindset.
Think of something your grateful for.
Think about someone or something that you love.
Think of this moment as a clean slate and fresh start.
Take 5 deep and slow breaths.
Put a smile on your face.
